April, april

April. The camps are on! We are building Elida, sailing with the kids and taking care of them during the days. Work 24 hours a day, seven days a week.

Since Elida is not finished and we have camps on board that have been promised sailing, we have made a special solution to let the kids get out on the sea as we have promised them. We have rented four J/80 boats, fast and fun sailboats!

I am one of the instructors together with Lennart, Robert, Lasse and Stefan. Therefore I have been able to spend many hours on the sea together with a lot of kids the last weeks.  Usually the camps consist of  fourty people, so we take one group in the morning and one in the afternoon, spread over four boats with four to six kids each plus instructor.

While sailing, all the kids are active in the sailing practices. They all get to steer, trim the sails and make tacks as well as packing sails and mooring. If the winds are good enough, we hoist the jibtop, a small gennaker sail that gives high boatspeed.
