Livskraft 2006 – Something to remember!

The Livskraft camp 2006/2007 is over. Sadly. The minute I came home I longed back to the warmth, the fellowship and the partying. The meetings and worship was just right and lifted my spirit up, the seminars intriguing and educating, and I got to meet many new and old friends

28473We arrived to the city of Uppsala on Thursday, one hour later than we hoped because we forgot to bring some manuscript papers we left at home. After unpacking, I found myself sharing a room with my friends from Bäckbykyrkan. The introductory service begun in the evening, we worshiped the Lord and got the first taste of what the camp would be like.

I had chosen a seminar with Olof Edsinger, Secretary-General for the Lutheran youth organisation Salt, that was a three-day bible school. He discussed the history and authority of the Scriptures and the New Testament, how the two covenants differ and what we are supposed to know for our lives. On the third day, we learned about the many wars in the biblical history of Israel. Why did they happen? Why did God justify them? We also learned what we can learn from that past today. God does not fight for any nation, and it is folly to believe so. God fights for the truth (Joshua 5:13-15)

In the mornings we had a Bible study service, and the general theme was the life of Joseph in Genesis. The services were never shorter than two hours, so everybody got a lot of time to spend in worship and to learn from the Word. The evening services were even longer, but never boring.

The last evening was on the 31st of December, where the schedule was completely different from the other days. It was party time! Everybody dressed up in their best clothes and we had a beautiful supper with dessert. Then it was time to have the last service of the year. Lennart Möller, the author of The Exodus Case, had an incredible sermon with a very sharp testimony, the testimony of a convinced scienctist.

Now it was the final hour of 2006! We formed a torchlight procession and marched together, all 200 of us, to a nearby park to watch and fire off fireworks.

The evening continued with entertainment by Jonas & The Gang, the friends from my church who played music and made everybody have a very good time. Afterwards there was a disco in the church hall, with much crazy dancing by myself and many others. The night went on and on, and I didn’t go to bed until 5 AM.

The following morning was slow because the general tiredness. We had a final service in the morning, the final lunch, and then time for a lot of goodbyes.

Next December, Livskraft will be on top of the list of things I will do.
